WORLD PRESS PHOTO. Photo Journalism in Domescape

Photos that startle. Images that show us the world as it really is. Often merciless, sometimes shocking, always inspiring: For more than half a century, the World Press photo competitions provide for a genuine sensation. And where better for an exhibition of the best works to be held than in Bucharest, the city that has witnessed so many dramatic moments itself?

And what would draw more attention and be more effective in the media than staging this important exhibition amidst a whole landscape of interconnected individual domes in the heart of this unique city? From May 8th to 29th, 2015, World Press showed the best photojournalistic works in the five interconnected structures from ZENVISION: From the entrance area in the ZENCUBE 5x5, it moved along into the ZENDOME.150M and from there, through a tunnel that consisted of two successive ZENCUBE 5X5's, and finally into the ZENDOME.300M. This expansive temporary architecture in the middle of the centrally-located Universitätsplatz made it clear at first glance that something truly extraordinary was going on here and aroused the interest of invited guests and passersby. The airy atmosphere and the discreet white color of every ZENDOME transported visitors in their interiors to a separate, focused world without imposing itself. This effect allowed for the appropriate amount of attention to be paid to the superb photographic work, which showed how visual storytelling is currently being developed. In the end it was a total work of art that sparked curiosity in everyone from old to young, offering a survey of our world and making a clear architectural impression, at that.
