SKY-SKAN EUROPE GMBH
GRAND PALAIS PARIS

The newest ZENDOME product, the immersive media screen, had a great premier in October 2009 at the Grand Palais in Paris as part of the exhibition “Byzantium to Istanbul, one port for two continents”.

Nicolas Sarkozy and the Turkish Premier Abdullah Gül opened this unique documentation of Istanbul's history which is the main event of the French culture program “Saison Turque”.

The ZENDOME.immersive media screen marks one of the highlights of this collection showing around 300 pieces from Turkish, French and other international collections. The ZENDOME partner Sky Skan projects the photographs of cupolas from the most important churches and mosques into the geodesic cupola standing on pillars – and with this 360 degree projection creates the thrilling sensation for the visitors of this exhibition jof really being inside the historic buildings.

Being teleported to the Turkish city on the Bosphorus makes history a direct and immersive experience.

The high quality of the projection is due to the special vacuum membrane of the immersive media screen which is made up of three combined membranes where the inner and the projection membrane can be sucked against a special profile with a remote controlled vacuum.

This synergistic use of different technological systems creates a mobile, crease free and perfectly usable screen for high quality events such as this exhibition which can be visited until the 25th of January.
